Embarrassed [:$] Installing Email Archiver onto remote database server

I am running the Email Archiver setup on our SBS 2003 server, but wish to use our SQL 2005 server to house the archive database. The wizard fails every time when trying to populate the Exclaimer Email Archive Administrators Group. The error reads:

Error - There was a problem (0x80072035) performing the selected operation (Populating Exclaimer Email Archive Administrators Group). The following extra information is available:

    Binding to root container (LDAP://DC=TSG,DC=local)

The remote SQL 2005 server is a domain member but not domain controller. I have made the domain administrator account a sysadmin in SQL Server management studio.

As an additional note, I have previously successfully installed the database on the SBS2003 server. Does the SQL 2005 server need some additional local accounts or security groups for this configuration to work? I can make ODBC connections to the SQL 2005 server as both an administrator and as a domain user.

Re: Installing Email Archiver onto remote database server

There seem to be several installation issues with the Archiver, but very few responses.  Is this software working well enough to install?  I have tried installing on my SBS server and on a seperate server in the domain but in neither case have I been able to actually archive data to the SQL databases.  Does nayone have this working in a production environment?  Are there any other installation instructions that provide a better understanding of permssions, or any of the other issues that seem to affect installation?

Does anyone in support react to this forum?

Re: Installing Email Archiver onto remote database server

    Hi,

The archiver is a stable program. The issue is that the errors tend to be environmental which means that we do not have a magic wand to make them all go away.

The best way to resolve the archiver at this point is to contact support directly. If you have not done so, pleae contact support where they will be able to assist you.

     Regards

    Richard
