Several questions regarding the SBS Suite.

    I have a SBS 2003 SP1 standard system

In regards to the Mail Utilities, why would I want journaling enabled?

In regards to Archiving, several questions:

If money is no object what would be the ideal setup?

Separate server with SQL2005 Workgroup?  Will I need to buy SQL CALS?

I am concerned about too much on my SBS.  Dual Xenon 3.0 and 4 gigs RAM 10k SCSI Raid 5

If I decided to keep it all on my SBS,

Am I better off with SQL 2000 on my SBS then SQL2005 express?

What are the known issues with Vista and Outlook 2007?

Your product looks great and am really hoping this will be my final solution for my client.

    Thanks

Re: Several questions regarding the SBS Suite.

    Hi John,

The journaling feature in Mail Utilities sends copies of messages to a desired mailbox. Journaling can be used for sending messages to the Archivers mailbox, to then be written to the database.

SQL 2005 Express with Advanced services is available for free via Microsoft. Please scroll down to the bottom of the downloads page to the link to the Microsoft website:

    www.exclaimer.com/downloads.aspx

There are issues with regards to exporting mail when using Outlook 2007. The Archiver was released prior to Outlook 2007, these issues will be resolved in the next version, 2.2.

The search client application is not yet compatible with 64 bit machines.

If you do have any further questions, please let me know. I will be happy to help.

    Best Regards

Re: Several questions regarding the SBS Suite.

Thanks Joshua for replying to my posting. However I was looking for a little more info.

I know that SQL Express is free from Microsoft but I really wanted to know is that if I have a 20 person office will I be better off buying a new server for archiving or can I get away with SQL 2005 Express and have the same functionality and room for growth?

When will version 2.2 be available?

So some of my desktops are running AMD 64 Athlon PC's that would need the search client.  It will not work with these PC's?

    Thanks again

Re: Several questions regarding the SBS Suite.

    Hi John,

With regards to the Archiver, SQL express 2005 with Advanced service will be fine. You will need to ensure you have enough disk space for the databases.

The Archiver search application is not yet compatible with 64 bit machines, however the web access will work.

We do not have a timescale on version 2.2 of the Archiver as of yet.

    Best Regards
