    offline"ing" old archiver databases

We are now up to 16 archiver databases and some of the original few databases are getting to the point where we want to take them offline and back them up to a long-term storage medium.  This way we still have the data if we need to access it, but it will not be available to archiver unless we restore it.

What steps are necessary to perform this task?  Do we need to edit entries in the ArchiveConfig database to mark them as unavailable for search?

    Hi

You can detach the database(s) not required from SQL and then move the MDF and LDF files to removable media.

You will then have to expand the Config database and open the ArchiveDatabases table. This table has an entry for each database to be searched.

Locate the entry for the database you wish to remove, take a note of the values (start date, end date etc) and then delete the row.

I would recommend when taking the values to add them a text file and to put it onto the same media as the MDF and LDF. This way you have all the details when you need to reattach the database.

    Best Regards
