    Standalone Exclaimer system

    Hi,

I notice that the system requirements for Exclaimer Mail Utilities say that it can be installed on a system running Exchange or on a system without Exchange. So far, I haven't seen any other references to people running Exclaimer standalone but I'd like to know how this configuration works as I have a client who is keen to minimise the load on their Exchange server.

    Cheers,

    Matt

    Re: Standalone Exclaimer system

    Hi Matt,

You can configure Exclaimer Mail Utilities to run on separate server. You will need to install IIS SMTP on the additional server and configure Exchange to route message through to the Exclaimer server for external signatures.

If you wish to use the Anti Spam module and to have disclaimers on incoming message you will need to configure your mail flow so that message are received via the Exclaimer server first.

If you have an existing installation of Mail Utilities, please do open the Help file and search for Exchange 5.5. Exclaimer needs to be set up on another server for Exchange 5.5 and these instruction can be applied for setting up Exclaimer on additional server in an Exchange 2000\2003 environment.

If you do have any further questions or queries, please let me know. I will be happy to help.

    Best Regards

    Hi Joshua,

Thanks for that info. You mentioned that we can have a separate server in an Exchange 2000/2003 environment......can the Exchange 2007 version of Exclaimer also run standalone (on a 64-bit Windows system) or does it need Exchange 2007 on the same server in order to work?

    Regards,

    Matt

    Re: Standalone Exclaimer system

    Hi Matt

The 32bit version of Mail Utilities works via sinks in the SMTP service. Therefore you do not need Exchange as long as IIS SMTP is installed.

The 64bit version of Mail Utilities works via Exchange agents, you can not install on a server without Exchange 2007.

However, you can install the 32bit version on the additional 64bit server.
