The Exclaimer Community

We have a worldwide multi-server Exchange 2003 environment, all E-mail goes to and from the Internet from the main office which is located in the US.  At this time we are interested in Exclaimer for banner purposes only for a subset of our user base, any other function that it provides is already duplicated with other products.  Where is the Exclaimer typically installed, is there a suggested server to install it on?  We are not interested in adding another server, can it for instance be installed on our Bridgehead servers?  Would we need to license it for our total amount of users or just those that the banners will be applied to?  Can it be configured to only apply the banner once per E-mail thread?  I think that is it for now, thanks,

Hi Chris,

Exclaimer is installed on to either the gateway server for external disclaimers, the mailbox servers for internal disclaimers and both servers for both internal and external disclaimers.

In the scenario you have given I would assume you require external disclaimers only and therefore would recommend you install onto the server in the main office in the US.

The license applies for the total amount of users mail being disclaimed by Exclaimer.

Thanks Joshua.  There was one other question in there too, can it be configured to only apply the banner once per E-mail thread for externally sent messages?

Someone we do business with who uses the product claims it works that way but I don't see how it would keep track of an external thread and apply only the first time.

Hi Chris,

You can ensure that a disclaimer is applied to one email thread by using a section of the banner\disclaimer in the "Don't add disclaimer if body contains" section of the disclaiming rule.

Exclaimer will search the body of the message and if the string is present, it will not add the disclaimer again.
